Wooden sign for Worlds End State Park Pennsylvania

Worlds End State Park is located just south of Forksville in Sullivan County, Pennsylvania, in an area that is part of the state’s “Endless Mountains”. It’s situated in a narrow S-shaped valley of the Loyalsock Creek and is surrounded by the Loyalsock State Forest. The 780-acre park offers a ton of outdoor recreational opportunities. The campground opens in mid-April and closes at the end of regular deer season in early December. Check in/out time is 3:00 p.m.

The campground has fourteen 30-amp electric only campsites, sixteen 50-amp electric only campsites, 30 non-electric sites, and 8 walk-in tent sites. There are 2 bathhouses and 3 potable water access points in the campground, 2 on loop A, and 1 on Loop B. All of the electric sites are located on Loop A. Pet-friendly camping sites are also located within Loop A.

Campground amenities include a playground, dump station and large amphitheater. Because cell phone reception in the area is spotty, if available at all, public telephones are located at the bathhouses along with ice freezers. Firewood is available for purchase and there are small pavilions for disposing of your trash and recyclables. A campground host was on duty during our stay. There is a Contact Station at the entrance to the campground, but in our experience, it was never manned.

Camping pads vary in length from 12 ft to 74 ft, but most are on the smaller side. Our site was roomy enough to fit our 27 ft trailer and truck with no problem. However the fire ring was located a little too close to the awning when it was open, so we closed it when using the fire ring. Our site was located next to the bath house. We had a path directly to the bath house and there were some trees and bushes giving us some privacy. We camped in the site during a previous visit to the campground and knew what to expect. We didn’t mind the bath house traffic at all.

The bathhouses were clean and the showers were the perfect temperature and water pressure. There were three showers on each side (Mens’ and Womens’). A sink for washing dishes is provided on each side as well.

In addition to the campground, there are 19 rustic cabins available for rent year-round. Cabins sleep 4 to 8 people in bunk beds. They have electricity and are equipped with a refrigerator, range, table and chairs, as well as a wood burning stove for heat. The cabins do not have running water, but there are bath houses in the cabin area. Dogs are permitted in two of the cabins, and two cabins are ADA accessible.

There are also three group tenting areas for groups of up to 30 people each. These sites do not have showers, but pit toilets and potable water are available.

Other amenities in the park include plenty of picnicking areas, including several picnic pavilions, and an outdoor chapel. There is a small dam on the Loyalsock Creek forming a roped-off swimming area that’s open Memorial Day to Labor Day.

Across the street from the swimming area is the “World’s Best Snack Shop” and a bathroom, with changing facilities. The snack shops sells hot food and ice cream, as well as beverages and other treats.

Other activities within the park include scenic vistas, thirteen trails ranging from .42- mile to 7 miles-long. In addition, a section of the 59-mile long Loyalsock Trail runs through the park.

Worlds End State Park is one of our favorite Pennsylvania State Park campgrounds. We've stayed there twice, each time for a week, and still haven't explored all there is to see and do in the area. We will definitely be back again!
